Students of Bauchi University was reportedly killed by a collapse bridge

It was a very sad incident in
the late hours in the morning of yesterday Monday, as unknown number student of
the Abubaka Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State lost their life following
the collapse of a bridge in the University
Unknown
number of student of the Abubaka Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State lost
their life following the collapse of a bridge linking the classes with the
hostels in the University.
The bridge
collapse due to the heavy rain in the state that lasted for several hours,
which brought about grate flooding in the university.
At the
time of filing this report the exact number of casualties was unknown as some
students within the school said two were carried away by the flood and other
said three and another student said five and other still missing even till now.

A source
said, “I learnt that eight students have been killed, many others are missing.
One corpse was found around the Nigerian Air force Base (over 5 kilometres
away), many are still missing.”
According to another source
within the institution said, “The bridge linking the classes with the hostels
collapsed as a result of yesterday’s (Monday) torrential rain while students
were returning to the hostels”.
Another student who pleaded
anonymity said the incident happened between 11:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.
The MK6BLOG
reports that students of the institution are currently writing their
1st semester examination.
According to our
correspondent, the institution’s spokesman, Dr Andee Iheme, told our
correspondent, “An emergency Senate Meeting has been called this morning and we
will hold a press conference immediately after that.”
